To cut a long day short:

| Dep Seattle: | 8.00am |
| Arr Honolulu: | 12.10pm |
| Dep Honolulu: | 1.00pm |
| Arr Hilo, Big Island: | 2.00pm |
All times are approximate and local - odd hour off and hours back on again depending on Alaska Standard Time, "West Coast America Time" or Hawaii Standard Time.
We left Alaska at a temperature of 28F and arrived in Hololulu at the complete opposite of 82F.
Flying down the coast of Big Island, Hawaii we could see Mauna Kea above clouds and Haleakala on the Island of Maui beyond. Views of the road we shall travel down in a few days time with bridges and valleys all looked picturesque as "we are flying down to Hilo"
Having got an earlier flight from Honolulu there was no transport waiting for us at Hilo so we all got taxis to the hotel and checked in, though the rooms weren't ready with us arriving early. Eventually we get our room and collapse in a heap.
We go out for a little walk to familiarise ourselves with the area - we were here in 1991 for the Total Solar Eclipse and stayed at the same hotel so is was nice to re-aquaint ourselves with the surroundings - the Banyan trees, Coconut Island and Ken's House of Pancakes.
Bed very earlyat 8.15 absolutely tired with capital K.
