Venus Point, Tahiti

As part of our 2004 late holiday (to New Zealand via Easter Island), we were forced to spend a day on the island of Tahiti. During that day we took the opportunity to visit Venus Point where Captain Cook observed the Transit of Venus in 1769.

The plaque has been stolen, but photos are still "findable" on the Internet. This one is by Joseph A Carr.

On the flight out of Tahiti we could see the airport, Papeete and Venus Point
