Total Solar Eclipse
Scientific Observations

Measurements were taken at regular intervals of ground and air temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure.

The results have been plotted from the data and presented graphically. An Excel spreadsheet containing all the data with some comments is also available for download.
Note: The atmospheric pressure measurement showed insignificant changes to bother graphically displaying the results

  2. Relative Humidity Plot
  3. Excel spreadsheet

Measurements were made using a variety of "domestic" instruments (see picture taken "at home" and "in the field")

Altitude measurement was taken as an approximation of data provided by the watch and Garmin GPS12.

See also the results of our pinhole camera experiment.

The location of the observation site was near Chisamba, Zambia:

15o 0' 17.45" S
28o 10' 50.0" E

Altitude of approximately 3750 ft.

Local circumstances (UT+2hrs) for the eclipse were:

First Contact:

13:41:25.9

Second Contact:

15:09:04.7

Third Contact:

15:12:38.5

Fourth Contact:
